Legendary for its uncanny ability to withstand abuse that would destroy any other microphone, the Shure SM58 has not only helped to define the sound of rock vocals on stage, it's also been used as a hammer to build stages and gone on to perform flawlessly later at the gig. Using a club's house system? You'll be singing through an SM58. And in the studio? Daniel Lanois always uses the SM58 or Beta 58 on Bono's vocals.

The Shure SM58 Mic is world-renowned for its distinctive upper-midrange presence peak that ensures an intelligible, lively sound. Perfectly fits the hand, balanced for total comfort during long gigs. Frequency response is a smooth, vocal-tailored 50Hz-15kHz, and the price is a bargain considering its life expectancy.

Just the BEST.

My band recently recorded an EP at a studio, and the engineer set me up with a variety of different recording microphones, some priced in the thousands of dollars. While mixing, he realized that my tone in the scratch vocals had a good, full sound as compared to the finals. We decided to record all my final vocals with the SM58, which is what I used for the scratch vocals. The albums came out great, my voice is warm and clear. After you take into consideration the fact that they're also very DURABLE, I'd say that this is my favorite microphone.

Don't settle for anything less than this, it is the definitive live vocalist's microphone.

If you don't sing through this you might as well lip sync cause if you don't have a Shure SM58 on stage your not serious about the quality of your live vocal performance.

it took A LOT of effort to do it. I was in a punk band and I repeatedly swung this sucker into walls, floors, ceilings, people, etc. It WILL break, but only if you are destructive. This lasted nearly a whole year, where other mics were toast after just one or two shows. Think Iggy Pop kind of abuse. And the sound at the last show was every bit as good as the sound at the first. Once I learn my lesson about smashing nice things, I will certainly buy one of these again.

A Shure Survivor

I work with a professional band, and they own about 8 of these bad boys, not sure but that's not the point. These mics have been through heck and back, ran through 2 Battle of the Bands we host and run production for, roughly 36 bands per year for 2 years on top of their own use by the band all around the country. Get the point? These guys are tough as nails... they sound brilliant, clear, crisp, I can't ever remember them saying a 58 ever failed them. It's worth every penny, and I will probably get myself one of these for my personal recording.
