Bang For The Buck....

One heck of a program by far. Initially I had problems with latency, and lagging as I was just testing it on a P4 2.4ghz & 1gig of ram. After I wired it up with my Line6 audio interfaces, the latency problems were solved. So as far as processing goes.. I would reccomend to anyone running a pc duo core or single to get some sort of audio interface that way it can handle all of your processing and you can record with litle to no latency. I'm now running a duo core & 4gig of ram, windows xp pro.. I use a line6 toneport ux8 for recording drums, and a pod studio ux2 for vocals/guitars.. Also the M-audio axiom 49 is in excellent choice for the midi controller.. Hope this helps...

I was really impressed with this software when I first tried out the demo. It has so many features on it and (from using Acid XMC for a while) the interface made it fast to learn and record. It comes with a lot of effects that, if used right, can really enhance recordings. This is professional level software, so it definitely gets the job done!

incredible software under XP64

My first review was critical of the fact this software is not 64-bit, and it did not get posted. I was running Acid on a 64-bit Everex X2 Dual-core Athlon 1.7 GHz laptop with 2 GB of memory, and Acid was very sluggish. Then I had a thought, try XP64. I loaded it up, and tried to install Acid, but it balked when it tried to install WMF 11. Not to be put off, I download it from the Microsoft website, installed it, and then Acid installed without a problem. Then, I ran Acid, and the difference was night and day running XP64 on a 64-bit processor, absolutely incredible. XP64 has the capability of loading 32 bit software, and man, Acid now runs like the wind. I tried Sonar and various others, but Acid had the most professional interface, and it handles VSTi software like ezxdrummer flawlessly. Acid 7 has made quite a few improvements over version 6, so it is well worth the money to upgrade. So in the end, I highly recommend Acid Pro 7, good job Sony.

I loaded this up on a twin core Athlon 1.7 with 2 gigs of memory. It records and lets me play back and record another track with no latency once I figured out to turn off the beatmap option. But after the track is recorded and I want to do something else, it takes forever. I first thought my laptop wasn't powerful enough, and set about to build an overclocked EVGA 2.6 to 4 GHz, but for some reason it occurs to me that the problem isn't the cpu speed, but the 3-4 GB memory restriction of the 32-bit operating system, Acid doesn't run on a 64-bit OS, and I think the basic problem with the software is exactly that, I think it needs at least 6GB to run smoothly, but there is no way. There is a trick under 32 bit Vista to tweak PAE and get up to 4GB, I will try that next, but too bad Acid is only a 32 bit program, whereas Vegas will run on 64, although twice as expensive it might be worth the transition. Well I least I got my 100 dollar rebate in the works, but man is this software slow. I could be off, mine is apparently the first post, I will be interested to read the experiences of others.
