Good solid turntable.

I don't sratch so I can't speak from a dj's perspective but for playback and occasional vinyl sampling the Stanton t.50X seems to fit the bill nicely. I haven't touched a turntable in 15 years so I did need to read the instructions on cartridge installation and tonearm adjustment. The first record I played sounded horrible but an adjustment to the rear counterweight fixed that. It feels solid but someone who's going to be battling and what not will probably want to step up. I outfitted it with the Stanton 500.v3 cartridge and stylus. Let the crate digging begin!

Good for Beginner DJ's, but...

I bought a Stanton T.50X Belt Drive Turntable when I first began DJ'ing and wanted to dabble in turntable use. This well-priced turntable is excellent for aspiring turntablists but lacks the features of more advanced turntables (adjusting tempo w/o affecting pitch, USB connectivity, etc.). Stanton does make an excellent turntable and is a major innovator in DJ technology.

To conclude, this turntable is good for amatuer DJ's but I would recommend a higher grade for a DJ looking to go pro.

Features have changed for the better since I last purchased a turntable 25 years ago. The T.50X Belt Drive Turntable is wonderful. The tone arm on this model makes skips which were noticable on records played on my old turntable a thing of the past! The T.50X is very clean sounding and in conjunction with my Rolls phono pre-amp, it's even more so. It's also good to have the extra on-off switch in case I have an alternate set up. I would prefer a conventional plastic dust cover in place of the cloth one, but maybe they're not so conventional anymore. I highly recommend the T.50X. Great job!

Plastic case sacrifices none of the cool looks that you see with the stylish new Stanton line of gear. Dependable, well constructed, gets your foot in the door of DJ'ing without taking all your cash. You will still need to get a cartidge and I'm using the 500-AL II since I don't do a lot of scratching.
