I suppose that maybe I am at a bit of an advantage bieng in the industry, but most of the reviews on this product appear to lack some of the most important information. If you decide to get this product I would Definitely do the firmware update, and stear clear of any cheap USB host controllers that have VIA chipsets. Obviously you should download the latest drivers, and everything else should be smooth sailing. I am sure that all of the problems these other users had would have been solved with these simple steps. I absolutely love this peice and would recommend it to anyone with these guilines.

Cubase is one of the best programs around so it stood to reason that this package would be awesome. And it would have been if not for the MI4. My first one didn't even work right so I had to return it. The second seemed better but then I noticed that the driver wasn't allowing me to select the 3/4 inputs, only 1/2. The MI4 doesn't work with most other DAWs and this version of Cubase won't work unless you use the MI4. In fact the program won't load unless the MI4 is plugged in. I hear that the firmware updates can solve most problems but I expected a better product from Steinberg. Read the forums carefully and weigh the risks before buying this. There's nothing worse than getting stuck with something you can't return. If you have to go with Cubase, go with SL or SX, but buy another type of interface. Don't be cheap because you'll get what you pay for.

I bought this recently just to return it. It's built slightly weak and turned me away because of USB. I opted rather for an M-Audio FireWire 410 for the same price and have loved every minute of it. The best feature is a functional copy of Cubase SL! But for an audio input device, I'd opt towards M-Audio or the M-Box.

I purchase this system and was happy for the price and the ease of installing. The midi connection work great and transfer of mp3 or audio wave was fine. But when I started to record audio into my computer from the microphone source or keyboard outputs, I got a crazy popping and crackling noise. I couldn't figure it out along with four other experance Cubase users. So I return it. Talk about taking your creative flow out of just wanting to record music, you'll turn into tech to figure out how to stop the popping!
