The variable-impedence Summit Audio 2BA-221 Tube Mic and Line Module is a microphone preamp that has individual controls to mix mic with Hi-Z or line inputs for variable vacuum tube output. You can mix them together through 12AX7A/ECC83 tube output or separately through individual solid state outputs. A stackable input design allows multiple 2BA-221s to be linked for a modular mixing device with individual outs, inserts per channel, and a final vacuum tube gain stage. Its swept high-pass filter, multiple simultaneous tube and solid state outputs, insert jack, and internal power supply makes the 2BA-221 a powerful tracking and mixing tool.

Summit Audio 2BA-221 Tube Mic and Line Module Features:

  • Variable mic input impedance from 100 ohms to 10K ohms
  • Variable high-pass filter
  • Hi-Z instrument, line, and mic level inputs

Summit 2BA-221 IS the summit

Had been using my 1-4 Mackie Onyx pres before this new addition. My "new channel strip" chain features the Summit 2BA with FMR Audio's RNC & RNLA into my Digi 002 rack. Bottom line is that I am now using the Summit strip for just about everything. The versatility of this unit is quite unique. Record your rig live AND direct...blend them together to your taste. Design-wise, the numerous connection possibilities make this unit extra special.

I finally got tired of bland sounding tracks. Got the 2BA-221 and at first didn't really notice much difference, I actually had to work at it. This thing makes you want to become a better singer/musician. With practice I was able to bring out my sound and place it perfectly in a warm full sounding track. It is amazing the difference it makes once I learned how to work with it. And how much more fun and easy recording can be with it. I love this thing. One last bit of advice, if you’re routing this through a cheap board, don't. I will kill the sound. I got rid of my board and connect straight to my m-audio 10/10. It makes a world of difference.

Brings out the feeling

This is a very solid unit. Originally I bought the Focusrite TrakMaster Pro it didn’t give any depth or really any thing beneficial to my music. I returned it the next week. After reading forums for the next month I found this one. I was skeptical but went for it. I am pleased with this unit. It's subtle but brings clarity and depth/warmth to my vocals. You can really bring out the vocals if you’re riding just under peek with the tube at ¾ with the impedance most of the way up. Depending on what mic you use. Has a lot of flexibility as well. I can go from blue grass twang to alt rock to industrial and with a little tweaking it lays the vocals in nicely with very little eq. So far this is the biggest improvement to my studio. It just works well and makes every thing else fall into place with a lot less effort. It also works well as an instrument pre too.

I looked at everything out there, and since I record onto a pc, I wanted the warmth of tube, but also clean. This gives you the clean sound, but if you need the color, its there. That's why I chose it over the grace
