The TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony-G is a studio-quality vocal harmony effects pedal designed for guitar players. The Harmony-G pedal takes the need for programming completely out of the equation, since your guitar playing tells Harmony-G what notes to harmonize. A guitar AutoMix function provides acoustic guitar players with a balanced mix of vocals, guitar, and effects.

The VoiceTone harmony-G pedal's straightforward controls enable you to go further and arrange voicing and effects changes in your songs by stepping through 10 presets with A/B settings as you perform. VoiceTone Harmony-G also features XLR mic level I/O, a guitar input, and pass-thru for separate amp and guitar tuner inputs.

Each effect pedal in the TC Helicon VoiceTone line has a unique purpose, yet they complement each other perfectly. Their studio-quality sound, ready-for-action construction, and unobtrusive size let you carry TC Helicon VoiceTone pedals with your favorite mic to the gig, whether it's a club or a concert hall. And operation couldn't be easier. You'll get the sound you want in seconds, instantly boosting your performance the very first night you use a TC Helicon VoiceTone pedal. Quality is discernible in every aspect of TC Helicon VoiceTone pedal design. Studio-caliber audio algorithms, transparent converters, and fastidious analog audio design lead to a smooth sound that makes you sound your best. It just wouldn't be enough to make a product that helps you sound this good without making sure it can stand up to rough treatment onstage or in the studio. Well, this is my final followup to my 2 below. I just finished up with the TC Helican online support tech, a real trooper, did all he could. However I conjecture from what I observed within my experience that no one was surprised with my experience. I made some suggestions that they should devise a recommendations, limitations, pref'd equipement, and equip. to avoid, etc.

The Garble seems to come from keeping the Input Gain Pot low (to avoid the Feedback, or "ring" that persists). This was done as a suggestion by TCH, their develper in Canada, the one on the demo videos, I was told directly. But the online Support Tech, realized by treating the Feedback, we created the Garble --he was correct. So, we went back to sticking with his suggestions --and starting over again --another bad unit, or just how it "works".

I advised them my experience at a Amp Show they were at, no comment on that. There's a large support record under my interaction with them, including Jpegs, et al.

Bottomline, this is a marginal unit, unpredictable in outcome use, if used in various venues. Even in stable environment, in recording, it had it's limitation too. You'll get a very average, to below average result, if you have any kind of critical ear. Keep the gain low, vol low, do not use the Tone feature... well, it's a bit muddy, escially when you nock back the 6.3 frequency range on the vocals on the PA... no "airy" feeling at all. Mudd in my opinion.

I pointed out to TCH, I could not find a Warranty or Guarantee online on their site, the OEM site. It's a very limited Warranty, in the box only. So, keep to the 45 day eval here at M.F. --who by the way, did all they could do, aside from taking it back AFTER 45 days --I can't fault them for that.

So, I guess, it's not broken, it just does not perform as expected, as I understand it should,as it did in its first days of use (?), nor as demo'd by their folks at a large venue Amp Show 2009.

I hope that helps. This technology is far from being perfected. Get Back-up singers and be done with it :)

Regards.

This is a followup to my other reviews. Well, after several weeks, I did get a replacement unit. All seemed well and then the garbeling of the harmony voices started to occur again. I posted an update to that trouble ticket yesterday and am waiting to hear back, --what next? I, like the folks below very much liked the unit for all the same reasons. And, yes this "second" unit could be a fluke, however I wish this all occurred within the 45 day eval period w/MF... I'd've gotten a refund and tried something else.

The two issues and well covered w/their tech, is feedback (no matter what and I'll leave it there) and break up/garble of the harmony voices. As I said, not day one after several hours of use; then, now always. And the feedback, even when a baffle is put in front of the monitor 8 ft away that high pitched hollow sound is very well recorded--more so evident than when "live". When I remove the unit, I can be sitting on top of the speakers with Acoustic and SM57 mic w/80 volume on the main vol pot...

Maybe 3x's a charm? I'll post it here. Until then, better luck to you all with this. Turn around time on Warranty work is several weeks, so if making a living with this, have a back up.

Neat Machine

I just bought this device recently and found it to be very cool for a solo guitarist/singer, as I am. It adds some brightness to the lead vocal with the on-board fx. The harmonies are pretty awesome. The only thing that I don't like is when I play a song that has vocals over chord transitions, the harmonizer sometimes garbles until it finds the harmony for the new chord. It's a little frustrating at times. There may be a work around for this, but I haven't figured it out yet. This also happens with songs that have a lot of quick chord changes. In all, it's pretty neat and adds a lot to vocals. It does take some getting used to. Like I said, there is probably a work around for the problem I'm having. I just haven't figured it out yet. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Great,solid,well-built product, great tone! Sounded great when I demoed it at the local shop. However don't order if you do not have a PA system or full studio set up for vocals to use this. I ordered it & can not use it,I ran it into my bass amp which I use for keys & vocals,it sounded awful, also sounded awful through my 8 track setup & I couldn't get it to work at all through my computer studio setup ,I just didn't have the right equipment. So be forewarned to use this pedal right & to it's full potential you better have a full PA or other full vocal/mixer setup, not just basic guitar amps & a couple mics/cables laying around like me AND this is what I was told when I called TC so I am not making it up,the tech just said that's how this pedal works, has to(should) go through a full mixer,etc.. May be able to rig it to an acoustic amp with a mic input without a mixer, but I have no such amp. My only other idea is to hook up my old 4 track as a mixer & run it though that into my amp,but I need a power cord to try it,but anyways, wish I had a PA

Best Harmonizer I've Ever Had!

Let me say that as a solo performer I have DigiTech's VL2 & VL4 as well as the Electro-Harmonix VoiceBox Harmonizer and Vocoder. I've gigged all of them except for the Voice Box but hands down the T.C. Helicon is a better vocal preamp and harmonizer. It tracks my guitar's chord changes very well and the harmonies are well, off the chart. I send one of the outs to my guitar amp and the other to my P.A. system which has an onboard mixer. It sounds incredible especially with my Audio-Technica AT4047/SV condenser which the Harmony G supports. The presets are decent but extra tweaking is possible. The tone button is great and the unit itself is rock solid. No off switch but all my electronics are plugged into a Monster Power Cable anyway.
