Great unit. If you are having problems, Do a clean install of the OS, drivers and audio software. Please do this on a good computer not some out dated system or cheap machine. It will work very well. This unit is very good. I have used it for over 3years on a dual xeon 2.8 with 3GB of ram. It never misses a beat.

If anyone out there is looking for more than two inputs on their audio interface but doesn't want to spend alot, I recommend this unit. I am using a Macbook Pro with 2 GB of ram, and I have had absolutely no problems. I'm not sure what is wrong with people that give this poor reviews. Either they don't know what they are doing or they aren't using a mac. That said, from what I understand there really shouldn't be any problems for Windows users either. Highly recommended!

I've heard those talk about stability and getting it to work with your computer and some of the points were good, but for the most part what people don't do is have the computer they're using for recording only run the software that you're going to use for recording, that's what you have to do with this unit regardless of the o/s. If you have other recording software or have used other interfaces connected to your computer before you purchases this unit you should reformat your computer load it from scratch and then connect this module and the software that comes with it. I'm a network admin for a living so I know a little bit about what I'm recommending. You might think it's not important but I guess it depends on how important your recordings are to you, that being said that's exactly what I did. I'm running it on a windows XP machine, via the firewire interface, my computer hardware isn't anything special just 3.20ghz machine whith 2gb of ram. I only record music so the only software on my machine, is reason and cubase, that's it, no microsoft office, no video games, definitely no internet access and I haven't had any problems at all with this unit, no synching issues, no drive issues. As for the unit itself, it's very clean, no hiss, no latency, can't really complain and for the money you get 8 analog tracks of recording which isn't bad, so if you're going to buy this unit start it off on a new or freshly formatted computer and you'll reap the benefits.

Dodgy Drivers

Bought this piece of gear at shop assistants recommendation as everyone seemed really stoked at the preamps and very good quality sound it is capable of. Only problem is I cannot get it to stay stable on any PC. They have never updated the drivers that are completely inadequate, and they offer no tech support or excuse.

I bought this to use with my new MacBook and the hardest part was downloading the software update because of the awful internet connection I had. Worked the first time I plugged it in and used it, which is amazing because that never seems to happen for me. Low noise and latency, functions seamlessly with my Logic Expess software. If you have a Mac, this interface is recommended without hesitation (as opposed to the Hercules FW1612, which should be avoided like the plague!)
