These are far the best turntables on the planet. As everyone else, I also own a pair of the MKII's and those are phenomenal, the thing I like about these are the overall dependability, they are durable, and very versatile, you can improve you mixing techniques with these, once the pitch is locked it is locked. They feel like you have owned just as long. Be strong and try not to sell your MKII because those are history compared to these.

Digital pitch adjust

This deck has a didital pitch adjust just like a cd player meaning you adjust in increments of plus or minus 1.1 1.2 No more anolog pitch adjust. And with out a jog wheel it lacks the tracking ability many have come to expect. Not an issue if your playing hip hop but for those of you that play any style where you have two songs playing together for a minut or so this isn't the deck for you.

If your interested in becoming a DJ or a pro with years of experience, trust no other name than Technics. A wise friend told me when I started spinning not to bother with the decks featuring all the bells and whistles... He said "Buy the decks the pros use, You'll end up upgrading to them later on anyway once you know the difference between feature quantity verses quality..." I bought a pair of SL1200mkII's. I have since upgraded to these MK5's. They are basically the same as the MKII's. These decks however feature a "No click" pitch. Also a tighter anti-skid. I found that when beat-matching close to <0> on the pitch, The Quartz lock would seem to pull to <0> almost as if it was magnetic. Thats actually my favorite feature on this turntable. The pitch lock switches off with the push of a button. The tighter anti skid is also better than on the MKII's. I have done every kind of experimenting with every kind of scratch possible on these decks with very little or no skipping... These turntables are a bit on the expensive side. I would have to say in my opinion "You get what you pay for." If you want to be able to produce quality mixes or production. You need quality equipment. Theres a reason the name Technics is the industry standard for professional DJ equipment... It is the best set of decks out there PERIOD!

Technics feel better...

Technics have overturned the status quo in the turntable market. The craftmanship of the MK5's are unmatched. I tested both the Numark TTX1's and Technics 1210 MK5's. The Numarks are great, I really cannot put them down. In fact I may get one of them for my son. However, not just relying on the Technics history or popularity, but on actual hands on testing and comparing to other decks, the Technics just feel so much better. The stability and strength of these decks when mixing, scratching, blending and beat juggling is superior. When rubbing the vinyl on the MK5's you can tell it is a premium product.

Don't Got Em? Get Em! Got Em? Love Em!

I played on the illustrious MK2's my whole DJ career and always hated when I got in a mix right on the pitch lock that clicked you in place. With the MK5's not a problem! Just like the M3D's it moves across the 0 pitch with no clicking but, now with the MK5's the tonearm is suped up for scratch happy action! The black looks great and Technics will last a lifetime. Whatever you can throw at em! Don't settle with some cheapos! Get what you can rely on for years to come! And 2nd Air Shipping was super cheap for these 30lb'ers! Thanks Musicians Friend!
