Drumkit From Hell (aka DFH) was originally created to address Toontrack Music's own needs for better and heavier drums in music production. As a result the Toontrack production team decided to record a drum library with the best musicians and producers available in Swedish heavy metal.

Drumkit From Hell was awarded 5 of 5 in Sound on Sound and an EQ Magazine Exceptional Quality award and launched Toontrack Music and the DFH brand in a major way into the sample business enabling the development of the Superior and EZdrummer samplers. To celebrate and signify the importance of Drumkit From Hell Toontrack has decided to re-release it as an EZX expansion pack for EZdrummer. The Drumkit From Hell EZX uses TPC, Toontrack Percussive Compression.

The DFH EZX contains the essence of what Toontrack is originally all about. The commitment to excellence through collaboration with the best players and producers aimed at helping you to make better, more inspired music. This version of DFH includes both the original DFH release and the Add-On pack that was released subsequently. The sounds for DFH were played, recorded and produced at Dug Out studios by Tomas Haake, Daniel Bergstrand, Mattias Eklund and Fredrik Thordendal. All sounds have been re-mixed at Toontrack Studios by Mattias Eklund and we've added custom midifiles from the diabolically gifted musician and guitar player of Meshuggah, Fredrik Thordendal plus midi played by Tomas Haake of Meshuggah, Owe Lingvall of Nocturnal Rites, Mattias Grahn of Naglfar and Efraim Juntunen of Persuader. Since you already own EZD (which you need to use this), you already know about EZD in general.

There are a good number of different drum sounds to use and they sound good.

This product adds a ton of grooves/fills that are extremely useful for metal, modern rock and punk. Probably other styles too.

I wasn't too keen to buy this for the full price, but I got it on sale. I am glad I did. The basic EZD wasn't nearly as valuable for harder material that I was working on.

Who, besides the drumtek for Meshuggah, can say they've had the honor of sitting behind Thomas Haake's kit and letting it rip? While you may not be able to physically do this, unless you have a MIDI controller, you can have the pleasure of hearing the metal god play whatever you desire. Interface is easy to learn and higly adaptable. With a devatstating array of cymbals and drums at your disposal, how can you go wrong?

Better than the sounds that come stock with ezdrummer. The DFH is supposed to be geared towards metal drum sounds. I find it works well with many styles. It can sound metal, but it mainly just sounds like a modern drum kit. Easy to use. Included midi files aren't the greatest, but I don't use them anyway. I trigger everything with an akai mpd24.

This kit is an excellent addon to EZDrummer. If you find yourself needing more drums and/or more aggressive grooves, get this. I was doing fine with the built-in set that came with EZDrummer but this added more options and I don't regret buying it one bit.

DFH is great as a sample library, and is an awesome add-on to ezdrummer. I wish that I could have bought it as a stand alone application, but the ezdrummer base module is worth having irregardless. If you are a hobbyist or a seasoned pro, if you are into heavy music, DFH is a neccesery add-on to your sample library.
