Yamaha A10 - I recommend

This is a great little speaker. I picked them up used for an amazing price and have not had any regrets. I power them with a Crown XLS602 and use them for solo acoustic gigs.

Same power handling as the SM10V, but cheaper and slightly lighter. Sturdy, recessed handle located on the top of the cab makes it very easy to pick up and set these speakers down, as opposed to the SM10V with the cheap rubbery handle located on the side of the cab. I know, these two speakers are not designed for the exact same job, but for the record, I own both models and spent a lot more on the pair of SM10V monitors.

I also like the looks of the A10 with the smooth black grill and no metal corner protectors. Makes them look very nice when cleaned up. Just don't go banging them around in the back of the truck, as they may not be as durable as the V series.

I have not pushed the speakers to extreme limits, so I can not comment on the sound quality at high volume. Having 10" woofers, however, there are better speakers for high volume applications. I fully recommend these speakers for acoustic gigs at moderate volume.

Yamaha A10 - Superb

Gold standard! I bought 2 Yamaha A10's and 2 A12M 's a year ago - I've used them for outdoor live PA in festivals and in clubs. They sound much better than speakers at 3 times the price! One A12M had a factory defect that broke a wire - my brother opened and fixed it. SAVE your money for a good PA amp/mixer. These are lighter (A10 is 26 lbs) and have better specs than the new Yamaha BR series. My weighted 88-key piano and acoustic guitars sound GREAT.

Great Little Speakers!

These are great little speakers. We use them in our PA setup (along with a pair of Yamaha B15s). We place them on the floor like monitors but facing the audience. They really help focus our sound and they sound amazing. A great buy. I would buy several more if we needed them.
