A computer-based recording system for all musical instruments! |
The AUDIOGRAM Series has been carefully designed to make setting up your computer-based recording environment an absolute breeze. Coming as a complete kit, the AUDIOGRAM6 Computer Recording System bundles together a hardware interface that adds audio inputs and outputs to your computer, software for recording and producing music, and a USB cable for connecting the audio interface.
This package will instantly turn your computer into a powerful yet intuitive tool for recording and editing audio from virtually any microphone or audio input device. What's more, setup is as easy as installing the bundled music-production application, CUBASE AI, on your computer and connecting the audio interface using the USB cable provided. You're then ready to connect instruments, microphones, CD players, MP3 players, and even old record or tape players for recording straight into CUBASE AI.
Audio interface also with mixer functionality
With the Yamaha AUDIOGRAM6, you get a powerful mixer-type audio interface with two mono input channels and two stereo input channels. Each of the two mono channels features combo-type connectors for direct connection of a wide range of sound input devices. And because you can change the input sensitivity of each channel for direct connection of electric guitars and basses with a push of the MIC/INST select buttons, there's no need to study up on impedance and other specialist recording topics.
One-touch switching between mono and stereo inputs
Using the PAN button, you can instantly turn the two mono input channels on your AUDIOGRAM6 into a fully panned stereo channel and vice versa. For example, you can use this Stereo Coupling function when recording live performances, outdoor audio material, and many other stereo sources with a pair of dynamic microphones. In fact, Stereo Coupling also allows your interface to function beautifully as a simple mixer with three stereo input channels.
USB bus-powered interface
Powered via USB, the AUDIOGRAM6 requires no external power supply. As long as your computer is powered up and connected via the bundled USB cable, the interface will be fully functional, making it ideal for mobile situations or when few power sockets are available.
Setting compression has never been easier
Unlike normal compressors, which can be very difficult to adjust, the 1-knob compressors on the AUDIOGRAM6 are super simple. As the name suggests, you can adjust compression for smoother and more balanced recordings using just a single knob. Particularly when recording acoustic guitar, electric bass, and vocals, this intuitive feature will make your recordings much more stable and professional sounding.
Easy Balancing Of Audio Inputs And Playback
Using the AUDIOGRAM6 interface's Monitor Mix function, you can conveniently balance the volume of audio input from external sources and the volume of audio recorded on the USB-connected computer. Because the volume of audio playback from the computer can be adjusted using the DAW knob while the overall volume for the headphones or stereo output can be set using the MASTER knob, it is easy to achieve the perfect balance between external audio devices and tracks already recorded.

For what it is...

This product is okay for what it is. The software is useless and hardly intuitive. But the hardware is good. The combo inputs on channels 1 and 2 are great, cause you don't always see features like that on devices in this price range. My only problem really is that there's no way to send individual channels to individual tracks in your DAW. This isn't a problem really, except when I want to record something live (simple stuff like an acoustic guitar and a vocalist) it all goes to one track in your DAW. Not a horrible thing though. The knobs feel a little cheap/flimsy, but I don't abuse my gear, and they'll probably be just fine. Is it worth the money? Probably. The best thing is that other devices in this price range serve only as interfaces and not also mixers. That's a plus here. Bottom line- Do your research first, cause this isn't for everyone. You'll need a good, functional DAW cause AI doesn't cut it.

This may not be pro-level gear, but it works and I love it! Good: Great quality construction, intuitive mixer-like layout, balanced XLR/TSR inputs, phantom power, powerful headphone output, ingenious one-knob compressor on XLR channels, Cubase included, very simple ASIO driver that works flawlessly, 100% USB powered for mobility Bad: Supports only 16-bit/48 KHz (oh well), only ONE channel has phantom power Conclusion: With this thing, you're paying for quality, not a lot of gimmicks. It works perfectly, and that's the most important thing. Perfect for home studio recording or hobbyists.

After several calls with Yamaha tech support, I was told "it just won't work with your system", even thought I was using a system that met the published specifications. Their solution: use a different PC. I will be returning it.

What can I say but WOW! For an entry level hardware and software recording bundle this has got to be the best. It is very easy to use as far as an entry level product. We have been recording like crazy with the Audiogram and cannot be more happy. This may not be an expensive recording platform but certainly is close for basic recording. I think it can go to 48 tracks but we have not used more than 8 so far. We are now just getting into the automation features for setting and saving detailed mixdown settings. And for the money...come on...this is just ridiculously cheap for the quality. This is a HARDWARE and SOFTWARE bundle... and not just some garbage software either....CubaseAI. We are having a ball and are nowhere near maxing out the capabilities yet. We also are getting a rebate in addition to the already low price because we purchase other equipment at the same time. If you do not have any recording input devices or software yet, THIS IS IT. If you put it on a laptop then you can go anywhere with this configuration. If you end up not really liking it, you have not lost hundreds of dollars of investment. We also bought the Behringer BCF2000 digital control surface just to have a tactile interface for mixdown. This is really cool to have in addition to the Audiogram but absolutely NOT necessary.
