The durable, lightweight Yamaha EMX512SC 12-Channel Powered Mixer has dual 500W amps, 16 Yamaha SPX effects, built-in graphic EQs, and loads of input options.

Flexible power
The power mode switch lets you use the dual power channels as a stereo amplifier, or use one channel for the main speakers and one for the monitors, with separate monitor mix setup via the channel MONITOR controls.

SPX digital effects
16 Yamaha SPX effects-including reverb, echo, chorus, flanger, phaser, and even distortion-let you add the finishing touches to your live presentation.

Graphic EQs
Graphic equalizers are provided for both the main and monitor power channels so you can effectively control feedback or tailor the sound to match the room and program material.

Input options
The EMX512SC offers a total of 12 input channels-4 for monaural microphone (with phantom power) or line input, plus 4 pairs that can function either as monaural mic inputs or stereo line inputs-providing a versatile mix of input capabilities for a wide range of applications. If only mic inputs are needed, you can use up to 8 mic channels. If you want to play recorded background music during breaks using a stereo input, and have a keyboard player with stereo outputs, you still have 6 mic/line inputs available. If all 4 stereo pairs are used to handle stereo line sources, you still have 4 channels available for mono mic or line input. It's a versatile system that can adapt to your needs with ease!

Yamaha Speaker Processing
Yamaha Speaker Processing (YSP) provides optimized matching with speakers, for clean, solid reproduction that will deliver your music with maximum impact.

FCL (Feedback Channel Locator) system
The Yamaha FCL (Feedback Channel Locating) system makes locating and eliminating feedback easier than ever. FCL indicators provided on each input channel indicate which channel feedback is occurring in, so you can identify it visually and adjust levels or EQ as required. Another handy features is a Standby switch that mutes channels 1 through 8 so that, for example, after rehearsal or between sets you can mute performer's inputs 1 through 8 without having to change fader settings, while stereo inputs 9 through 12 remain active for background music playback.

Durable, lightweight design
At only 22 pounds and equipped with conveniently located handles, the EMX512S is easy to transport. It's built to withstand the rigors of the road and deliver reliable performance, night after night.

Not Pleased At All

Purchased my first one in April of 2009, and second one in July of 2009. Both of these units need service now. I have never dropped either one. First, I noticed that during a four hour gig, the volume knob needed to slowly be increased to keep the same decibel level. Then the lights above the main volume all but went out. One of the Yamahas now makes a digitized noise when playing anything through it (kind of a phazer effect). I had talked two other DJ's into purchasing this mixer and one of them stated that they have noticed the need to increase volume slowly as the gig gets closer to it's end. This seems to be to much of a coincidence to me. Sorry I'm not a grammar major but the information is factual. I purchased a Peavey this week and am crossing my fingers. Now I can start getting my other three (yes three, but only two are the EMX512SC mixers) Yamaha mixers that I have purchased in 2009 to an authorized service center.

I was a bit skeptical about this mixer. Needed one in a hurry and this was the best thing I could find on short notice. Hooked it up and I was suprised by the warmth and clarity. The built in compression was a definite plus. Case seems a bit frail, but it ran cool the entire gig. If it does well over the next few weeks, I will purchase more for my other DJ's.

I own the generation line before this (EMX88S) but I have no doubt that this is a great little power mixer. I owned the first generation EMX also and then upgraded to what I use now. I use it for my five piece band every weekend and it has never failed me. My unit has pan on the chanels, on the new model they got rid of the pan and added the compressers. Yamaha frustrates me with their thinking to power mixers. (example)on their EMX board style power mixers, NO eq for the monitors..but two effects channels???, Most musicians are straped for money, with the tecnoligy we have today I love the fact I dont have to buy a full rack of expensive and heavy stuff to play music and get great sound, the EMX line rocks the house but yamaha is just that little bit short when it comes to the features we need in this box.

I wrote a review for this mixer about a year ago, shortly after I first got it. Now, after having it and using it extensively I wanted to fill in with a little more of the things I wasn't paying attention to at the time. I will make a simple list of pros and cons. Pros; Lightweight - easy to carry. Clear, crisp sound. Plenty of stand alone power. Flexible - Line outs for external amps (main & monitor) Decent on board effects. EQs are before line out, so if using external power amps you can still EQ from the source. Compression - Very cool, just expiriment with it. Very easy hook up.

Cons; Lightweight - Build a case for it, it's fragile. No dedicated line in - (CD, Ipod, Etc) you have to use up one of your channels. No pan - this would've been huge to have.

Summary; excellent sound, plenty of power with room to expand out when needed. It's light but fragile, you need to protect it. The biggest drawback I have with it personally is the lack of pan, and a dedicated line in would have been really nice too, we need ALL of our channels and have to unplug something for set breaks.

That being said, I am still glad I bought it and still happy with it each time I use it.

This could be a wonderful mixer, loads of power and features, light weight. The very light weight comes at a cost, it is a very fragile unit. I have had two of these now. The first one fried the circuit board somehow but was replaced under warranty. The second one was dropped 2-3 feet by the drummer and has not worked since. When it worked it was a great unit except for the lack of track panning. Buyers beware be very gentle with it.
