THESE THINGS ARE TANKS

Okay.. let me start with saying that ANY one who says these are particle board is full of CRAP. I have owned these rugged tough and durable speakers for almost 6 years now. I use them at almost every concert I do along with a pair of Subs and I'll tell you what.. for the money you can't BEAT them with a stick.

I do Heavy Metal concerts and anyone who knows anything, knows that Metal is the most punishing music out there for speakers.

I have YET to have any problems with them.

I run almost 5000 watts of power at a time through my front end and these bad boys don't even whimper.. SO YES... you might need a sub for over the top sound.. but for anything that you want to use these things for.. buy them.. you can't go wrong.

Metal on...

ok i'v owned these speakers for about a year now. and i have read some of the reviews on this site i think some of these douchebags dont own these speaker but some thing else i saw one dude say that kustoms were better...the point is i play 3 gig's a week at mid. to large bars they ARNT made from partical board there plywood this site says there 60lbs i think there a lil heavyer if they were made from partical board they would be 30lbs maybe.I do 2 acoustic gigs and 1 punk show w/my band a week i love the way my voice sounds coming from these things...and i'll run my acoustic throgh it to and the sound is great...if you have the money and a hand truck buy a set...

You have to know what you're buying

These speakers are slightly above entry level. You shouldn't purchase these speakers if you expect the cleanest highs with the strongest, punchy lows.

There is a common misconception with 15" speakers, people expect a 15" to be bassy and it's simply not going to happen with these speakers. Sure, you can throw a sonic maximizer in your rack and you'll be able to pull some lows out of them, but don't expect your driver to have a long life if you do that.

These are decent speakers for someone who is looking for a cheaper solution and isn't looking for the absolute best sound, but in my opinion they MUST be supplemented with a subwoofer or you probably just won't be happy, unless you really don't need much bass.

If you are looking at this for DJing, don't forget to look at a subwoofer as well.

Great Speakers!

I've own these speakers for years. I've had nothing but good clean sound out of them. Maybe it's because I'm an old guy, but I think you'd really have to be throwing these spaekers around to mess them up. I've never had an issue with the cabinets at all. I don't know if mine are particleboard or not but they've held up GREAT. I'm guessing mine are 10 years old. My bass player and I bought the s112v speakers last year because we're old enough that the 15s were killing our backs. We didn't consider any other speakers. We just bought the 12s because we knew how great the 15s were. We're very happy with the 12s now!

They're over-rated. I have to agree with guy on one of the last posts, they suffer greatly from poor engineering. Yamaha makes a GREAT mixer, they do not however make a great speaker. You can get all the same features for 1/3 the cost with Kustom. I would not recommend these for anybody! We used these speakers (2 12s, and 2 15s) for a few years, and finally traded them for Kustom, which are cheaper and have a better sound!! They are, however, great to rest your foot on while you ROCK OUT!! But leave them unplugged for this.
