Excellent Portable PA

The Stagepas 300 does exactly what it claims to. Its a portable PA suitable for smaller venues like bars, coffe shops etc. In my opinion its the best value in that particular category of PAs. You can set it up in five minutes, literally, from car trunk to stage. Now there are more powerful and better features PAs out there, but they cost more and need more time in setup. This PA sounds great at moderate volumes, and is just what I wanted. I gave it 4.5 for features, althoughit doesn't have many features, but this part of what you pay for the easy setup. Most of the people I play with use outboard effects anyway, but the reverb is not fantastic and does let the side down a bit. Other than that, this has as many features as you can expect in something this size: 4 mic/line inputs, stereo inputs for keyboards and MP3 platers, output to its own speakers or powered speakers, output to recording device. This is not the mixer to buy if you want something that looks like the cockpit of a jumbo jet! Quality is great, definitely a 5. Build quality is robust, and the speakers can be mounted any which way. Sound quality is great. I particularly like that most knobs have a 'preferred' position indicated on the panel. If you set up usingthose to start with, and then tweak from there, you can get just the sound you want very quickly. Value and Overall: what more can I say? More band-oriented than the Passport, easier to set up than the bigger gear, it fits a sweet-spot that many non-professional players who want a good sound for gigs will love.

Been using this Portable PA (Yamaha STAGEPAS 300)for our music minIstry vocals and handles the vocals with no problem. It is great for small to medium size gatherings. We use it at a school gymn or church hall with no problems and vocals and harmony are great. I use another portable amp by KUSTOM that we use as a slave for additional 4 more mics ... you can't beat this for the price and quality Yamaha is known for. I recommend this product highly.

Not a bad deal for the money

I purchased my first Yamaha Stagepas 300 system in winter of 2005, and was so blown away by the sound quality and volume the system put out, I bought the Stagepas 500 when it came out. I've sworn by my 300 for smaller gigs (50-100 person venues), and it has stood by me for most of my performances, whether as mains or as monitors, and it handles both jobs beautifully. After 3 and a half years of multiple-times- weekly abuse, often involving a drink or two accidentally getting spilled directly into the mixer/amp's componentry, it finally died on me, but I'd imagine with less neglect this amp would still be going strong. I'll be buying another one very soon!!

Its Clear

I find its a great for what I do. I am a solo performer and singer-songwriter. The echo is a bit awkward sounding, but not horrible. Its just a very short tail, as opposed to elongated. But the sound is very crisp and clear. I used keyboards and vocals, and there is no overriding or competition in the channels. There is a lot of depth to the keyboard sound. For such a small system, it provides a lot of powerful sound! Best of all, is the clarity of the audio, which for me is most important as a songwriter.

Stagepas 300 is versatile

A year ago I was looking at buying an acoustic amp for a studio I have in my basement, band rehearsal, and bar gigs. After testing a dozen or so acoustic amps I tried this small PA package and was sold (after all, an acoustic amp is just a PA in disguise) This package is so much more versatile than an acoustic amp at about the same cost. The only thing noticeably missing from an amp in this price range is additional effects. Pros - 4 mono inputs is great for adding extra mics and instruments. I use it as a stereo (hook my ipod through the rca jack connections), I've used it for impromptu karaoke after coming home from the bars, has good volume for a small to medium sized room, acoustic amp (as noted above), it sounds crisp and clear, bass response is good for its small size, fits in easily in the back seat of my car, I've used the speakers as floor monitors during gigs with my band, simple controls... Cons - reverb is odd sounding when cranked past 75%, look elsewhere if you need to fill a large room or noisy bar with sound or if you need more than 4 mono inputs, you have to buy adapters to pole mount the speakers. All in all I have had no problems with this package and would buy it again.
