The Yamaha SubKick Low-Frequency Capture Device is a new breed of subfrequency (below 100Hz) capture devices designed to bring out the natural sound of bass drums and floor toms. SubKick uses the natural microphonic qualities of a 6-1/2" woofer shockmounted inside a 7-ply birch/mahogany shell. Mesh heads are mounted on the outside, which adds a tiny bit of sustain. The natural resonance of the shell combined with the heads and loudspeaker create an awesome subfrequency sound that must be heard to be believed. The SubKick works great by itself or can be used together with other drum mics. An XLR output makes for easy hookup.

The SubKick Device was designed by Yamaha Drum Artist Russ Miller, who was looking for a mic system that allowed the uncolored sound of the bass drum and floor toms to come through. Finally the full force of the drum set's low end performance is realized with SubKick.

Yamaha SubKick Low-Frequency Capture Device Features:

  • 6-1/2" woofer (frequency response 20Hz-8kHz)
  • 10" black mesh heads
  • 7-ply birch/mahogany shell
  • XLR output (no phantom power required)

Seriously slammin' kick drum and floor toms are yours with cutting-edge Yamaha technology. Get your SubKick today and start kickin' it!

I played a show with a drummer who had recently purchased one of these and was kind enough to let me use it on my kit, which is the maple Ludwig Zep Set with the 26 x 14 bass drum. Talk about a phenomenal booming sound (and this was outdoors). I'd like to purchase one of these in the near future for myself.

Best kick mic ever...period!!

This mic performs as good, if not better, than it looks! Sure you can build one, but why bother when you can have Yamaha do all of the work for you...worth every penny! This thing performs great, regardless of what you may hear, by itself! Much better than any AKG D112 or Sennheiser dynamic! Two thumbs up on this one...you won't be sorry!

Great Low Frequency for recording

A drummer just brought one in for a recording session & I was amazed at the Low Frequency this sub kick produces. It should be used in conjunction with an existing mic inside the bass drum approach taking up 2 channels. Can't wait to try it on an electric bass cabinet.

In the stomack

First ive seen this device on the 15" bass-cabinet at the Phil Collins concert, asked the guitar-tech about it, and then heared it at the soundcheck. Then in a small club here (withg one of the worst PA's ever!!) the drummer brought this for the kick-drum. the result was that ive never heared a kick drum to sound so great..extreme low-end and decent click to make it always present in the stomack and in the ears. i must say that a studio without the Subkick will always have a BIG minus of quality below 100Hz
