My friend just bought one of these and we used it with my speakers. Preliminary start up we connected (2)Yamaha SW118V subwoofers and (2) Yamaha S115IV mains to a Crown XTi 4000. We let the unit run without it which speakers and amp we were using. It sounded decent, but not great. THEN, we programmed in the Crown XTi 4000 and the speakers. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! You could actually tell what a change in the sound. I have never heard my speakers sound like that. I will be buying one and replacing my older amps with the new Crown XTi4000. Can't explain in words what my ears heard. Crisp, clear, and powerfull!

I had my first experience with the dbx driverack PA processor today, and I must say, "Wow... I didn't know it could do all that."
In less than 10 minutes, the unit was powered on, the soundboard was zeroed out, the amp/speaker combination was set, the white-noise analysis took place, the EQ was auto-normalized, feedback supression dialed in, and the subharmonic synth was set.
The sound for the venue was the clearest I have ever heard it (A school cafeteria)! Now, one thing I am leaving out is that the vocalist did not have his microphone assigned to any sub-mix, so the feedback supressor simply skipped over the mic, which caused some problems later. However, this would have been alleviated if we would have run the dbx through the setup phase once more, with the RTA microphone engaged. Essentially, we just had to manually EQ that one mic during the performance.
The subharmonic synth is rich and not cheesy. As long as your instruments with bottom ends are mixed well, your subharmonics will sound well-balanced.
The ease of use, single rack space, and reasonable price-point are HUGE perks for this processor.
