58 Nothing!!!

I have worked with every possible mic in the studio and live for about the last 15 years. And any senhiser is just as good if not better than a 58. The body is just as durable. This modle being the lowest grade has as good of sound as the 58. Get to the e835 and your paying the same price for a cleaner and wider frequency mic. Any more, unless you move to the beta series of shure, your not going to touch the senhisers. And for the price, I havent seen anyone beat them yet.

ok we all compare other mic's to the shure sm58 and 57 well lets face it they are the standard of the industry.that being said I didn't expect much from senheiser's cheapest mic well did I get surprised I found the mic very warm sounding and it was so hot that it fedback all the time making it perfect for backup vocals, bass ,guitar etc.it has a very nice quality to it as far as sound and it's built like a tank. I mean if it fails you can jump into the crowd and use it as weapon.I have a small recording studio and the mic performed very well there also as good as the shures.Shure made there name because they hold up under the vigors of the road I have some I have had for 20 years and they are still going strong. Now will this mic do that .....I doubt it because it does have a switch on it and rhats why shure quit using the switch it is what goes bad.In conclusion buy 2 of these and go to mcdonalds and have a meal and you ain't lost nothin.

Got this mic with a package from school. It's got an alright frequency response and can sound pretty good if you place it properly and EQ it accordingly... I wouldn't really recommend this mic for much more than a vocal mic for a band that doesn't want to/can't spend the money to get an SM58.

Excellent Mic for the Price!

This mic has a wonderful warm, full sound to it. Having used sm57's and sm58's, I almost prefer this one over them. It has a great sound, and it has decent gain. That might be the only drawback is that it needs the gain to be slightly higher, otherwise, it's a great mic!
